refactor: migrate from make-fetch-happen to ky and use ky natively (#10134)
Migrate from make-fetch-happen to ky

## Summary:

- Replaced all usages of make-fetch-happen with
[ky](https://github.com/sindresorhus/ky) for HTTP requests.
- Upgraded nock to v14 so it's capable of mocking native fetch
implementation
- Removed the make-fetch-happen dependency
- Ensured all fetch logic is compatible with ky API.

## Why:

- ky provides a modern, lightweight, and promise-based HTTP client with
a simpler API.
- Reduces dependencies and simplifies codebase.

## Testing:

We'll do testing in sandbox environment of the modified functionality
(which is not much) and we also rely on automated testing.

chore!: remove deprecated default env from new installs (#10080)
**BREAKING CHANGE**: DEFAULT_ENV changed from `default` (should not be
used anymore) to `development`

## About the changes
- Only delete default env if the install is fresh new.
- Consider development the new default. The main consequence of this
change is that the default is no longer considered `type=production`
environment but also for frontend tokens due to this assumption:
724c4b78a2/src/lib/schema/api-token-schema.test.ts (L54-L59)
(I believe this is mostly due to the [support for admin
tokens](https://github.com/Unleash/unleash/pull/10080#discussion_r2126871567))
- `feature_toggle_update_total` metric reports `n/a` in environment and
environment type as it's not environment specific

task: migrate tests to vitest
Vitest Pros:
* Automated failing test comments on github PRs
* A nice local UI with incremental testing when changing files (`yarn
test:ui`)
* Also nicely supported in all major IDEs, click to run test works (so
we won't miss what we had with jest).
* Works well with ESM

Vitest Cons:
* The ESBuild transformer vitest uses takes a little longer to transform
than our current SWC/jest setup, however, it is possible to setup SWC as
the transformer for vitest as well (though it only does one transform,
so we're paying ~7-10 seconds instead of ~ 2-3 seconds in transform
phase).
* Exposes how slow our tests are (tongue in cheek here)

As part of preparation for ESM and node/TSC updates, this PR will make
Unleash build with strictNullChecks set to true, since that's what's in

false` flag in our compile tasks in package.json.

TL;DR - Clean up your code rather than turning off compiler security
features :)

feat: upgrade from react v17 to v18 (#7265)
**Upgrade to React v18 for Unleash v6. Here's why I think it's a good
time to do it:**
- Command Bar project: We've begun work on the command bar project, and
there's a fantastic library we want to use. However, it requires React
v18 support.
- Straightforward Upgrade: I took a look at the upgrade guide
https://react.dev/blog/2022/03/08/react-18-upgrade-guide and it seems
fairly straightforward. In fact, I was able to get React v18 running
with minimal changes in just 10 minutes!
- Dropping IE Support: React v18 no longer supports Internet Explorer
(IE), which is no longer supported by Microsoft as of June 15, 2022.
Upgrading to v18 in v6 would be a good way to align with this change.

TS updates:
* FC children has to be explicit:
https://stackoverflow.com/questions/71788254/react-18-typescript-children-fc
* forcing version 18 types in resolutions:
https://sentry.io/answers/type-is-not-assignable-to-type-reactnode/

Test updates:
* fixing SWR issue that we have always had but it manifests more in new
React (https://github.com/vercel/swr/issues/2373)

fix: disallow invalid tag values (#7268)
This PR fixes how Unleash handles tag values. Specifically, it does
these things:
1. Trims leading and trailing whitespace from tag values before
inserting them into the database
2. Updates OpenAPI validation to not allow whitespace-only and to ignore
leading and trailing whitespace

Additionally, it moves the tag length constants into the constants file
from the Joi tag schema file. This is because importing the values
previously rendered them as undefined (probably due to a circular
dependency somewhere in the system). This means that the previous values
were also ignored by OpenAPI.

UI updates reflecting this wil follow.

## Background
When you tag a flag, there's nothing stopping you from using an entirely
empty tag or a tag with leading/trailing whitespace.

Empty tags make little sense and leading trailing whitespace differences
are incredibly subtle:

![image](https://github.com/Unleash/unleash/assets/17786332/ec8fe193-8837-4c6a-b7bf-8766eff34eed)

Additionally, leading and trailing whitespace is not shown in the
dropdown list, so you'd have to guess at which is the right one.

fix: only release migration lock if acquired (#6454)
We should not try to release the migration lock if where unable to
acquire it. By trying to close it when we have not successfully
connected to the database we end up hanging for a while before the
process is eventually killed.

I did not add a better error-message, as Unleash now gives a better
error stack and crashes immediate if you start without a database
password. We should still consider if you need to specify db credentials
or not. Technically it is possible to have a postgres without a password
(but it is likely not common).

refactor: add typesafe wrappers for prom client metrics (#5969)
https://linear.app/unleash/issue/2-1856/add-typesafe-wrappers-over-prom-clients-metrics

As discussed on the latest knowledge sharing session, this adds typesafe
wrappers over prom client's metrics, requiring us to specify all the
configured labels for each metric.

This uses a functional approach and only exposes the methods that are
currently relevant to us, while also exposing the underlying instance of
the metric for an easy access if needed.

Since we often chain `labels` with `inc` in counters, this adds a
convenience `increment` method for counters which does both in a single
call.

feat: admin token calls get an admin token user (#5924)
## About the changes
Whenever we get a call from an admin token we want to associate it with
the [admin token
user](4d42093a07/src/lib/types/core.ts (L34-L41)).
This should give us the needed audit for this type of calls that
currently were lacking a user id (we only stored a string with the token
name in the event log).

We consciously decided not to use `id` as the property to prevent any
unforeseen side effects. The reason is that only `IUser` type has an id
and adding an id to `IApiUser` might lead to confusion.

Biome1.5.1 (#5867)
Lots of work here, mostly because I didn't want to turn off the
`noImplicitAnyLet` lint. This PR tries its best to type all the untyped
lets biome complained about (Don't ask me how many hours that took or
how many lints that was >200...), which in the future will force test
authors to actually type their global variables setup in `beforeAll`.

feat: encrypt emails at rest for demo login (#5759)
## About the changes
This allows us to encrypt emails at signup for demo users to further
secure our demo instance. Currently, emails are anonymized before
displaying events performed by demo users. But this means that emails
are stored at rest in our DB. By encrypting the emails at login, we're
adding another layer of protection.

This can be enabled with a flag and requires the encryption key and the
initialization vector (IV for short) to be present as environment
variables.
