fix(common): 🛡️CWE-681 & CWE-197 eliminate tainted numeric casts in size parsing by using BigDecimal with range guards (#5521)
# Description of Changes This pull request refactors and improves the logic for converting human-readable size strings (like "10MB", "2.5GB") to bytes in the `GeneralUtils` utility class. The main enhancement is switching from imprecise floating-point arithmetic to `BigDecimal` for more accurate and robust conversions, and centralizing the conversion logic to reduce code duplication and improve maintainability. **Improvements to size conversion logic:** * Replaced all floating-point arithmetic in `convertSizeToBytes` with `BigDecimal` operations to ensure precision and to handle large values more safely. * Introduced a new private method `toBytes(BigDecimal value, int powerOf1024)` to centralize and standardize the conversion from size units to bytes, including error handling for negative and excessively large values. * Added constants `KIB` and `LONG_MAX_DECIMAL` for improved readability and maintainability of size calculations. * Added a helper method `parseSizeValue(String value)` to consistently parse size values as `BigDecimal`. * Updated imports to include `BigDecimal` and `RoundingMode` for the new conversion logic. --- ## Checklist ### General - [ ] I have read the [Contribution Guidelines](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-PDF/blob/main/CONTRIBUTING.md) - [ ] I have read the [Stirling-PDF Developer Guide](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-PDF/blob/main/devGuide/DeveloperGuide.md) (if applicable) - [ ] I have read the [How to add new languages to Stirling-PDF](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-PDF/blob/main/devGuide/HowToAddNewLanguage.md) (if applicable) - [ ] I have performed a self-review of my own code - [ ] My changes generate no new warnings ### Documentation - [ ] I have updated relevant docs on [Stirling-PDF's doc repo](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-Tools.github.io/blob/main/docs/) (if functionality has heavily changed) - [ ] I have read the section [Add New Translation Tags](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-PDF/blob/main/devGuide/HowToAddNewLanguage.md#add-new-translation-tags) (for new translation tags only) ### Translations (if applicable) - [ ] I ran [`scripts/counter_translation.py`](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-PDF/blob/main/docs/counter_translation.md) ### UI Changes (if applicable) - [ ] Screenshots or videos demonstrating the UI changes are attached (e.g., as comments or direct attachments in the PR) ### Testing (if applicable) - [ ] I have tested my changes locally. refactor(security): clean up SSO handling, harden URL parsing, and bump dependencies (#5523)
# Description of Changes This PR performs a broad cleanup and refactor across the security, SSO, and dependency layers to improve correctness, maintainability, and robustness. ### What was changed - **SSO / Authentication cleanup** - Removed deprecated and ambiguous `SSO` authentication handling in favor of explicit `OAUTH2` and `SAML2`. - Introduced a centralized helper (`isSsoAuthenticationTypeByUsername`) to consistently detect SSO-backed users. - Hardened user creation logic to strictly validate authentication types and reject invalid values. - Updated OAuth2 and SAML2 authentication success handlers to use unified SSO detection logic and clearer control flow. - Adjusted tests to reflect the new canonical authentication types. - **Security & robustness improvements** - Replaced direct `new URL(...)` usage with `URI.create(...).toURL()` to avoid malformed URL edge cases. - Hardened `Referer` parsing logic to safely handle invalid or host-less URIs. - Improved string comparison patterns (`"literal".equals(x)`) to avoid potential `NullPointerException`s. - **Controller and API cleanup** - Removed large blocks of unused and legacy admin settings endpoints from `SettingsController`. - Updated OpenAPI annotations to use `requiredMode` instead of deprecated `required`. - **Dependency and build maintenance** - Updated Spring Boot from `3.5.7` to `3.5.9`. - Updated multiple dependencies (Spring Security, Jackson, Micrometer, Jetty, Hibernate, SnakeYAML, Springdoc, Swagger UI, etc.). - Synced dependency versions in `3rdPartyLicenses.json` and removed duplicate or obsolete entries. - Modernized Gradle DSL usage (`url =`, `username =`, `allowInsecureProtocol = true`). - Ensured Spotless disabling applies consistently across all subprojects. - Added `.build-cache` to `.gitignore`. ### Why the change was made - To eliminate legacy and ambiguous SSO handling that could lead to incorrect authentication decisions. - To improve security and stability when dealing with user-controlled URLs and headers. - To reduce technical debt by removing unused controllers and deprecated patterns. - To keep dependencies up to date and aligned with the current Spring Boot release. - To improve overall code clarity, consistency, and long-term maintainability. --- This pull request contains dependency updates, minor code cleanups, and some refactoring to improve maintainability and correctness. The most significant change is the removal of all admin settings endpoints (GET/POST) from the `SettingsController`, which impacts how application settings can be managed via the API. Additionally, there are dependency version bumps, minor improvements to static resource checks, and small refactors in certificate download logic and Telegram bot service. **Major API changes:** * Removed all admin settings endpoints (general, security, connections, privacy, advanced) from `SettingsController`, including both GET and POST handlers for updating and retrieving settings. This eliminates the ability to manage these settings via the API. **Dependency updates:** * Upgraded `snakeyaml-engine` from 2.10 to 3.0.1 and `springdoc-openapi-starter-webmvc-ui` from 2.8.14 to 2.8.15 in `build.gradle`. **Refactoring and bug fixes:** * Refactored static resource check in `RequestUriUtils.isStaticResource` to use constant-first string comparison for better null safety and clarity. * Updated certificate download logic in `CertificateValidationService` to use `URI.create(urlStr).toURL()` instead of `new URL(urlStr)` for improved URL parsing and error handling. Fix: Whitelist health endpoints in Security and Enterprise Filter + fix keep original commit (#5494)
Community PR that had a bug, kept original Commit for history with bug fixed, Merge dont squash merge # Description of Changes This PR fixes #5159 by allowing standard health check endpoints to be accessed without authentication, which is required for container orchestration (Kubernetes/Docker) liveness and readiness probes. Changes: 1. **Security Whitelist (RequestUriUtils):** Added `/actuator/health`, `/healthz`, `/liveness`, and `/readiness` to the public whitelist to prevent 401 Unauthorized. 2. **Enterprise Filter (EnterpriseEndpointFilter):** Added an exception for health endpoints. Previously, this filter was aggressively blocking all /actuator/ requests for non-Pro users, returning 404 Not Found even if the security config was correct. **Testing:** Verified locally. **Before:** `curl http://localhost:8080/actuator/health` returned `401 Unauthorized`. **After:** curl `http://localhost:8080/actuator/health` returns `200 OK` and `{"status":"UP"}`. A sample response from cURL: After the fix ```bash $ curl -v http://localhost:8080/actuator/health ``` Now returns: ```bash * Host localhost:8080 was resolved. * IPv6: ::1 * IPv4: 127.0.0.1 * Trying [::1]:8080... * Connected to localhost (::1) port 8080 > GET /actuator/health HTTP/1.1 > Host: localhost:8080 > User-Agent: curl/8.5.0 > Accept: */* > < HTTP/1.1 200 OK < Date: Mon, 15 Dec 2025 18:39:18 GMT < Vary: Origin < Vary: Access-Control-Request-Method < Vary: Access-Control-Request-Headers < X-Request-Id: 775fb1ee-35de-400d-9e8b-bd1805e3c61a < Content-Type: application/vnd.spring-boot.actuator.v3+json < X-Content-Type-Options: nosniff < X-XSS-Protection: 0 < Cache-Control: no-cache, no-store, max-age=0, must-revalidate < Pragma: no-cache < Expires: 0 < X-Frame-Options: DENY < Transfer-Encoding: chunked < * Connection #0 to host localhost left intact {"status":"UP"} ``` --- ## Checklist ### General - [x] I have read the [Contribution Guidelines](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-PDF/blob/main/CONTRIBUTING.md) - [x] I have read the [Stirling-PDF Developer Guide](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-PDF/blob/main/devGuide/DeveloperGuide.md) (if applicable) - [x] I have read the [How to add new languages to Stirling-PDF](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-PDF/blob/main/devGuide/HowToAddNewLanguage.md) (if applicable) - [x] I have performed a self-review of my own code - [x] My changes generate no new warnings ### Documentation **NOT APPLICABLE** - [ ] I have updated relevant docs on [Stirling-PDF's doc repo](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-Tools.github.io/blob/main/docs/) (if functionality has heavily changed) - [ ] I have read the section [Add New Translation Tags](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-PDF/blob/main/devGuide/HowToAddNewLanguage.md#add-new-translation-tags) (for new translation tags only) ### UI Changes (if applicable) **NOT APPLICABLE** - [ ] Screenshots or videos demonstrating the UI changes are attached (e.g., as comments or direct attachments in the PR) ### Testing (if applicable) - [x] I have tested my changes locally. refactor: remove legacy Thymeleaf web UI controllers and templates (#5406)
# Description of Changes This pull request completes the removal of Thymeleaf template engine support and documentation from the Stirling-PDF codebase and developer guides, reflecting the project's full migration to a React-based frontend. It removes all references to Thymeleaf in code, configuration, and documentation, and updates guides to focus exclusively on the React SPA architecture. This streamlines the codebase and clarifies the development workflow for contributors. **Codebase cleanup: Thymeleaf removal** - Removed all commented-out Thymeleaf dependencies and related configuration beans from `build.gradle` and `AppConfig.java` (`app/common/build.gradle`, `app/common/src/main/java/stirling/software/common/configuration/AppConfig.java`) [[1]](diffhunk://#diff-2a1a21726f33b05d16451237c68d6df91a5f4a58419d839715f3f1538a9a14aeL32) [[2]](diffhunk://#diff-70792df9a0ab5675ded888c9eb8e2815c780d7b39f4bda8cf2da51d1b336899aL67-L76). - Fully commented out (as a precursor to future deletion) the `FileFallbackTemplateResolver` and `InputStreamTemplateResource` classes, which were only used for Thymeleaf template resolution (`app/common/src/main/java/stirling/software/common/configuration/FileFallbackTemplateResolver.java`, `app/common/src/main/java/stirling/software/common/model/InputStreamTemplateResource.java`) [[1]](diffhunk://#diff-e2bc7614074316b972355cb7dda47b98f75b00eb6b2ca4f143a680ab2803dcd8L1-L49) [[2]](diffhunk://#diff-ab10ee12d8de8fb77759e931170373d388bde04bad6d0e42a0ab674355ef7ef3L1-L40). **Documentation updates: React-only focus** - Removed all instructions and references to migrating or developing with Thymeleaf templates in `DeveloperGuide.md` and `ADDING_TOOLS.md`, including detailed Thymeleaf usage examples, migration steps, and translation key usage in templates [[1]](diffhunk://#diff-ccd22fcbec8148152c8c77b85fbfe2633a6707b5ad50c2ef88fa87e2c47ea88fL5-R5) [[2]](diffhunk://#diff-ccd22fcbec8148152c8c77b85fbfe2633a6707b5ad50c2ef88fa87e2c47ea88fL41-L43) [[3]](diffhunk://#diff-ccd22fcbec8148152c8c77b85fbfe2633a6707b5ad50c2ef88fa87e2c47ea88fL103-L105) [[4]](diffhunk://#diff-ccd22fcbec8148152c8c77b85fbfe2633a6707b5ad50c2ef88fa87e2c47ea88fL157) [[5]](diffhunk://#diff-ccd22fcbec8148152c8c77b85fbfe2633a6707b5ad50c2ef88fa87e2c47ea88fL312) [[6]](diffhunk://#diff-ccd22fcbec8148152c8c77b85fbfe2633a6707b5ad50c2ef88fa87e2c47ea88fL404-R396) [[7]](diffhunk://#diff-ccd22fcbec8148152c8c77b85fbfe2633a6707b5ad50c2ef88fa87e2c47ea88fL451-L505) [[8]](diffhunk://#diff-ccd22fcbec8148152c8c77b85fbfe2633a6707b5ad50c2ef88fa87e2c47ea88fL530-R467) [[9]](diffhunk://#diff-ccd22fcbec8148152c8c77b85fbfe2633a6707b5ad50c2ef88fa87e2c47ea88fL585-L669) [[10]](diffhunk://#diff-ccd22fcbec8148152c8c77b85fbfe2633a6707b5ad50c2ef88fa87e2c47ea88fL699-L709) [[11]](diffhunk://#diff-e2f8148ea620602b7761e8ee24afeac1c577476630528e210fe0b22e950016ddL3-R3) [[12]](diffhunk://#diff-e2f8148ea620602b7761e8ee24afeac1c577476630528e210fe0b22e950016ddL267-R267). - Updated architecture descriptions in `CLAUDE.md` to reflect that the frontend is now exclusively a React SPA and that Thymeleaf templates have been fully replaced [[1]](diffhunk://#diff-6ebdb617a8104a7756d0cf36578ab01103dc9f07e4dc6feb751296b9c402faf7L131-R132) [[2]](diffhunk://#diff-6ebdb617a8104a7756d0cf36578ab01103dc9f07e4dc6feb751296b9c402faf7L143-L144). **Labeler configuration update** - Removed labeler rules for files related to the old Thymeleaf-based web controllers and UI directories, as these are now obsolete (`.github/labeler-config-srvaroa.yml`). These changes ensure the codebase and documentation are consistent with the new React-only frontend approach, reducing maintenance overhead and potential confusion for contributors. --- ## Checklist ### General - [ ] I have read the [Contribution Guidelines](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-PDF/blob/main/CONTRIBUTING.md) - [ ] I have read the [Stirling-PDF Developer Guide](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-PDF/blob/main/devGuide/DeveloperGuide.md) (if applicable) - [ ] I have read the [How to add new languages to Stirling-PDF](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-PDF/blob/main/devGuide/HowToAddNewLanguage.md) (if applicable) - [ ] I have performed a self-review of my own code - [ ] My changes generate no new warnings ### Documentation - [ ] I have updated relevant docs on [Stirling-PDF's doc repo](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-Tools.github.io/blob/main/docs/) (if functionality has heavily changed) - [ ] I have read the section [Add New Translation Tags](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-PDF/blob/main/devGuide/HowToAddNewLanguage.md#add-new-translation-tags) (for new translation tags only) ### Translations (if applicable) - [ ] I ran [`scripts/counter_translation.py`](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-PDF/blob/main/docs/counter_translation.md) ### UI Changes (if applicable) - [ ] Screenshots or videos demonstrating the UI changes are attached (e.g., as comments or direct attachments in the PR) ### Testing (if applicable) - [ ] I have tested my changes locally. feat(conversion): add SVG to PDF conversion functionality (#5431)
# Description of Changes This pull request introduces a new SVG to PDF conversion feature, including both backend and frontend changes. The backend adds a secure, vector-preserving SVG-to-PDF conversion endpoint with comprehensive SVG sanitization to prevent XSS and SSRF attacks. The frontend is updated to route SVG-to-PDF conversions through this new endpoint and to distinguish SVG from other image formats. Additionally, a new dependency is added for PDF rendering. **Backend: SVG to PDF Conversion and Security** * Adds a new API endpoint and controller (`ConvertSvgToPDF`) for converting SVG files to PDF, using Batik and PDFBox with vector graphics preservation and robust error handling. * Implements SVG sanitization (`SvgSanitizer`) to remove scripts, event handlers, and dangerous URLs, protecting against XSS and SSRF attacks. * Introduces a utility (`SvgToPdf`) for rendering SVG to PDF with timeout protection against resource exhaustion attacks. * Defines a new request model (`SvgToPdfRequest`) for SVG to PDF conversion requests. * Adds the `pdfbox-graphics2d` dependency for vector graphics PDF rendering. **Frontend: Routing and Format Handling** * Updates conversion endpoint constants to add `svg-pdf` and maps SVG files to use the new `svg-to-pdf` route instead of the generic image-to-PDF route. * Removes SVG from the generic image format list and introduces a dedicated check for SVG format (`isSvgFormat`). <img width="1133" height="995" alt="image" src="https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/dec8cf27-ccb9-490d-af76-bff69feb0423" /> <!-- Please provide a summary of the changes, including: - What was changed - Why the change was made - Any challenges encountered Closes #(issue_number) --> --- ## Checklist ### General - [X] I have read the [Contribution Guidelines](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-PDF/blob/main/CONTRIBUTING.md) - [X] I have read the [Stirling-PDF Developer Guide](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-PDF/blob/main/devGuide/DeveloperGuide.md) (if applicable) - [X] I have read the [How to add new languages to Stirling-PDF](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-PDF/blob/main/devGuide/HowToAddNewLanguage.md) (if applicable) - [X] I have performed a self-review of my own code - [X] My changes generate no new warnings ### Documentation - [ ] I have updated relevant docs on [Stirling-PDF's doc repo](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-Tools.github.io/blob/main/docs/) (if functionality has heavily changed) - [ ] I have read the section [Add New Translation Tags](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-PDF/blob/main/devGuide/HowToAddNewLanguage.md#add-new-translation-tags) (for new translation tags only) ### Translations (if applicable) - [ ] I ran [`scripts/counter_translation.py`](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-PDF/blob/main/docs/counter_translation.md) ### UI Changes (if applicable) - [ ] Screenshots or videos demonstrating the UI changes are attached (e.g., as comments or direct attachments in the PR) ### Testing (if applicable) - [X] I have tested my changes locally. Add Telegram bot integration for pipeline processing (#5185)
# Description of Changes This pull request introduces Telegram bot integration to the application, enabling users to send files via Telegram for processing through the pipeline. The main changes add configuration options, dependency management, and a new service for handling Telegram interactions. **Telegram bot integration:** * Added a new `TelegramPipelineBot` service (`TelegramPipelineBot.java`) that listens for incoming Telegram messages, downloads attached files or photos, places them in a pipeline inbox folder, waits for processing results, and sends the output files back to the user. The service includes error handling and status messaging. * Introduced a `TelegramBotConfig` configuration class to initialize and register the Telegram bot only when enabled via application properties. * Added a new `Telegram` configuration section to `ApplicationProperties` and the `settings.yml.template`, supporting options like enabling/disabling the bot, bot token/username, pipeline folder, processing timeout, and polling interval. feat(conversion): refactor EML parser to use Simple Java Mail library and add MSG support (#5427)
# Description of Changes Note on Simple Java Mail: - SJM contains Angus/Jakarta Mail in it. - SJM is a very thin layer on Angus Mail; see here: https://github.com/bbottema/simple-java-mail - SJM gives high level methods to more reliably parse in email via Angus Mail, but also contains lots of other interesting features. - SJM is Apache 2 licensed This pull request updates the email processing utilities to add support for parsing and validating Outlook MSG files, refactors the `EmlProcessingUtils` utility class to use instance methods and improved resource management, and enhances the handling and styling of generated email HTML. The changes also introduce external CSS resource loading with a fallback mechanism, and update dependencies to support MSG file parsing. **MSG file support and validation:** - Added `simple-java-mail` and `outlook-module` dependencies to enable EML and MSG file parsing, and updated validation logic to recognize and accept MSG files by checking their magic bytes. (`app/common/build.gradle`, `EmlProcessingUtils.java`) **Refactoring and modernization of `EmlProcessingUtils`:** - Converted static methods and fields in `EmlProcessingUtils` to instance methods/fields, improving testability and future extensibility. (`EmlProcessingUtils.java`) **Enhanced HTML/CSS styling for email rendering:** - Updated HTML generation to use consistent formatting and improved style variable usage, and refactored CSS injection to load from an external resource (`email-pdf-styles.css`) with a synchronized cache and a minimal fallback if the resource is missing. (`EmlProcessingUtils.java`) **Attachment and content rendering improvements:** - Improved the formatting of meta-information (e.g., CC, BCC, Date) and attachment sections in generated email HTML, and ensured more robust handling of empty or missing content. (`EmlProcessingUtils.java`) **General code cleanup and logging:** - Added SLF4J logging for error handling when loading CSS resources, and cleaned up imports and method signatures for clarity and maintainability. (`EmlProcessingUtils.java`) <img width="367" height="991" alt="image" src="https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/0cfb959c-da92-4cff-9e52-ff4ab7fa806e" /> <!-- Please provide a summary of the changes, including: - What was changed - Why the change was made - Any challenges encountered Closes #(issue_number) --> --- ## Checklist ### General - [X] I have read the [Contribution Guidelines](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-PDF/blob/main/CONTRIBUTING.md) - [X] I have read the [Stirling-PDF Developer Guide](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-PDF/blob/main/devGuide/DeveloperGuide.md) (if applicable) - [X] I have read the [How to add new languages to Stirling-PDF](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-PDF/blob/main/devGuide/HowToAddNewLanguage.md) (if applicable) - [X] I have performed a self-review of my own code - [X] My changes generate no new warnings ### Documentation - [ ] I have updated relevant docs on [Stirling-PDF's doc repo](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-Tools.github.io/blob/main/docs/) (if functionality has heavily changed) - [ ] I have read the section [Add New Translation Tags](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-PDF/blob/main/devGuide/HowToAddNewLanguage.md#add-new-translation-tags) (for new translation tags only) ### Translations (if applicable) - [ ] I ran [`scripts/counter_translation.py`](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-PDF/blob/main/docs/counter_translation.md) ### UI Changes (if applicable) - [ ] Screenshots or videos demonstrating the UI changes are attached (e.g., as comments or direct attachments in the PR) ### Testing (if applicable) - [X] I have tested my changes locally. OCR fix and Mobile QR changes (#5433)
# Description of Changes ## OCR / Tesseract path handling Makes tessDataPath resolution deterministic with priority: config > TESSDATA_PREFIX env > default. Updates language discovery to use runtimePathConfig.getTessDataPath() instead of raw config value. Ensure default OCR dir is debian based not alpine ## Mobile scanner: feature gating + new conversion settings Adds system.mobileScannerSettings (convert-to-PDF + resolution + page format + stretch) exposed via backend config and configurable in the proprietary admin UI. Enforces enableMobileScanner on the MobileScannerController endpoints (403 when disabled). Frontend mobile upload flow can now optionally convert received images to PDF (pdf-lib + canvas). ## Desktop/Tauri connectivity work Expands tauri-plugin-http permissions and enables dangerous-settings. Adds a very comprehensive multi-stage server connection diagnostic routine (with lots of logging). <img width="688" height="475" alt="image" src="https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/6f9c1aec-58c7-449b-96b0-52f25430d741" /> --- ## Checklist ### General - [ ] I have read the [Contribution Guidelines](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-PDF/blob/main/CONTRIBUTING.md) - [ ] I have read the [Stirling-PDF Developer Guide](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-PDF/blob/main/devGuide/DeveloperGuide.md) (if applicable) - [ ] I have read the [How to add new languages to Stirling-PDF](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-PDF/blob/main/devGuide/HowToAddNewLanguage.md) (if applicable) - [ ] I have performed a self-review of my own code - [ ] My changes generate no new warnings ### Documentation - [ ] I have updated relevant docs on [Stirling-PDF's doc repo](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-Tools.github.io/blob/main/docs/) (if functionality has heavily changed) - [ ] I have read the section [Add New Translation Tags](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-PDF/blob/main/devGuide/HowToAddNewLanguage.md#add-new-translation-tags) (for new translation tags only) ### Translations (if applicable) - [ ] I ran [`scripts/counter_translation.py`](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-PDF/blob/main/docs/counter_translation.md) ### UI Changes (if applicable) - [ ] Screenshots or videos demonstrating the UI changes are attached (e.g., as comments or direct attachments in the PR) ### Testing (if applicable) - [ ] I have tested my changes locally. refactor(pdf): improve resource management, memory usage, and exception safety across controllers and utilities (#5379)
# Description of Changes This PR fixes resource leaks and memory issues in PDF processing by implementing proper resource management patterns throughout the codebase. ## Key Changes ### Resource Leak Prevention All PDDocument and PDPageContentStream objects now use try-with-resources to ensure proper cleanup. Previously, resources could remain open if exceptions occurred, leading to file handle exhaustion and memory leaks. ### Memory Optimization Added `setSubsamplingAllowed(true)` to all PDFRenderer instances. This reduces memory consumption by 50-75% during PDF-to-image operations and prevents OutOfMemoryError on large files. **Affected**: OCRController, CropController, FlattenController, FormUtils, and 6 other files ### Large File Handling Replaced in-memory processing with temp file approach for operations on large PDFs. This prevents loading entire documents into memory. **Example (GetInfoOnPDF.java):** - Before: Loaded entire PDF into ByteArrayOutputStream - After: Saves to temp file, streams from disk, cleans up in finally block **Also changed**: PrintFileController, SplitPdfBySizeController ### PDPageContentStream Construction Standardized constructor calls with explicit parameters: - AppendMode: Controls content placement - compress: true for stream compression - resetContext: true for clean graphics state This prevents graphics state corruption and provides better control over rendering. ### Exception Handling - Added NoSuchFileException handling for temp file issues - Check if response is committed before sending error responses - Better error messages for temp file cleanup failures ### Code Quality - Replaced loops with IntStream where appropriate (SplitPdfBySectionsController) - Updated deprecated API usage (PDAnnotationTextMarkup → PDAnnotationHighlight) - Added null checks in Type3FontLibrary - Removed redundant document.close() calls ### Dependencies Added `org.apache.pdfbox:pdfbox-io` dependency for proper I/O handling. <!-- Please provide a summary of the changes, including: - What was changed - Why the change was made - Any challenges encountered Closes #(issue_number) --> --- ## Checklist ### General - [X] I have read the [Contribution Guidelines](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-PDF/blob/main/CONTRIBUTING.md) - [X] I have read the [Stirling-PDF Developer Guide](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-PDF/blob/main/devGuide/DeveloperGuide.md) (if applicable) - [ ] I have read the [How to add new languages to Stirling-PDF](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-PDF/blob/main/devGuide/HowToAddNewLanguage.md) (if applicable) - [X] I have performed a self-review of my own code - [X] My changes generate no new warnings ### Documentation - [ ] I have updated relevant docs on [Stirling-PDF's doc repo](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-Tools.github.io/blob/main/docs/) (if functionality has heavily changed) - [ ] I have read the section [Add New Translation Tags](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-PDF/blob/main/devGuide/HowToAddNewLanguage.md#add-new-translation-tags) (for new translation tags only) ### Translations (if applicable) - [ ] I ran [`scripts/counter_translation.py`](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-PDF/blob/main/docs/counter_translation.md) ### UI Changes (if applicable) - [X] Screenshots or videos demonstrating the UI changes are attached (e.g., as comments or direct attachments in the PR) ### Testing (if applicable) - [X] I have tested my changes locally. refactor(resource): improve resource management and exception safety across controllers and utilities (#5350)
TLDR: - Use try-with-resources for InputStreams, PDDocument, TempFile, and ByteArrayOutputStream to ensure proper cleanup - Refactor PDF manipulation methods to handle exceptions and resource closure more robustly - Simplify session sorting logic in SessionPersistentRegistry - Add missing resource cleanup in MergeController and SplitPdfBySectionsController - Update PrintFileController to close streams and documents safely - Add unit test for SplitPdfBySizeController # Description of Changes This pull request introduces several improvements to resource management and error handling throughout the codebase, especially for temporary files and PDF document objects. The changes help prevent resource leaks by ensuring files and documents are properly closed or deleted in the event of errors or after use. Notable updates include the use of try-with-resources, custom AutoCloseable wrappers, and enhanced error handling logic. **Resource Management and Error Handling Improvements** * Added try-catch blocks to delete temporary files if an exception occurs during file conversion in `GeneralUtils.java`, ensuring no orphaned temp files are left behind * Introduced the `TempFile` AutoCloseable helper class in `InvertFullColorStrategy.java`, and refactored the PDF processing logic to use try-with-resources for both temporary files and `PDDocument` objects, ensuring proper cleanup * Improved error handling in `MergeController.java` by ensuring that partially created merged documents are closed if an error occurs during the merge process * Enhanced the splitting logic in `SplitPdfBySectionsController.java` to close any partially created `PDDocument` objects if an exception is thrown, preventing resource leaks **Refactoring for Safer Document Handling** * Refactored `handleSplitBySize` in `SplitPdfBySizeController.java` to use a custom `DocHolder` AutoCloseable wrapper for managing the lifecycle of `PDDocument` objects, and updated all related logic to use this wrapper, improving code safety and clarity * Updated `handleSplitByPageCount` in `SplitPdfBySizeController.java` to ensure `PDDocument` objects are set to null after being saved and closed, reducing the risk of operating on closed resources <!-- Please provide a summary of the changes, including: - What was changed - Why the change was made - Any challenges encountered Closes #(issue_number) --> --- ## Checklist ### General - [ ] I have read the [Contribution Guidelines](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-PDF/blob/main/CONTRIBUTING.md) - [ ] I have read the [Stirling-PDF Developer Guide](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-PDF/blob/main/devGuide/DeveloperGuide.md) (if applicable) - [ ] I have read the [How to add new languages to Stirling-PDF](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-PDF/blob/main/devGuide/HowToAddNewLanguage.md) (if applicable) - [ ] I have performed a self-review of my own code - [ ] My changes generate no new warnings ### Documentation - [ ] I have updated relevant docs on [Stirling-PDF's doc repo](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-Tools.github.io/blob/main/docs/) (if functionality has heavily changed) - [ ] I have read the section [Add New Translation Tags](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-PDF/blob/main/devGuide/HowToAddNewLanguage.md#add-new-translation-tags) (for new translation tags only) ### Translations (if applicable) - [ ] I ran [`scripts/counter_translation.py`](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-PDF/blob/main/docs/counter_translation.md) ### UI Changes (if applicable) - [ ] Screenshots or videos demonstrating the UI changes are attached (e.g., as comments or direct attachments in the PR) ### Testing (if applicable) - [ ] I have tested my changes locally. [V2] feat(convert): add eBook (EPUB, MOBI, AZW3, FB2) to PDF conversion options and UI (#5291)
# Description of Changes This pull request adds support for converting eBook formats (EPUB, MOBI, AZW3, FB2) to PDF, including a new set of user-configurable options for the conversion process. It introduces frontend UI components, updates configuration and constants, and ensures that the backend can recognize and handle these new formats and options. **eBook to PDF Conversion Support** - Added support for converting eBook formats (`epub`, `mobi`, `azw3`, `fb2`) to PDF, including updates to conversion endpoints, extension mappings, and conversion matrices in `convertConstants.ts` to route these conversions through the new `ebook-to-pdf` endpoint. - Updated the file processing logic so that eBook-to-PDF conversions are processed separately for each file, similar to web file conversions. **Frontend: User Options for eBook Conversion** - Added a new UI component `ConvertFromEbookSettings.tsx` that allows users to configure options for eBook-to-PDF conversion: embedding all fonts, including a table of contents, adding page numbers, and optimizing for eBook readers. This component is conditionally rendered in the conversion settings when an eBook format is selected as the source and PDF as the target. - Integrated the new eBook options into the conversion parameters and ensured they are initialized/reset appropriately in the conversion settings. **Form Data and Backend Integration** - Modified the form data builder to append the new eBook options to the request payload when performing eBook-to-PDF conversions, ensuring these settings are sent to the backend. **Localization and Configuration** - Added localization strings for all new eBook conversion options in the English translation file, providing user-friendly labels and descriptions in the UI. - Updated backend configuration logic to recognize `Calibre` and `FFmpeg` as tool groups, ensuring correct enablement/disablement behavior for these tools. <img width="366" height="997" alt="image" src="https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/44d3308c-ea49-4874-8f5e-c7d617a37489" /> <!-- Please provide a summary of the changes, including: - What was changed - Why the change was made - Any challenges encountered Closes #(issue_number) --> --- ## Checklist ### General - [X] I have read the [Contribution Guidelines](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-PDF/blob/main/CONTRIBUTING.md) - [X] I have read the [Stirling-PDF Developer Guide](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-PDF/blob/main/devGuide/DeveloperGuide.md) (if applicable) - [ ] I have read the [How to add new languages to Stirling-PDF](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-PDF/blob/main/devGuide/HowToAddNewLanguage.md) (if applicable) - [X] I have performed a self-review of my own code - [X] My changes generate no new warnings ### Documentation - [ ] I have updated relevant docs on [Stirling-PDF's doc repo](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-Tools.github.io/blob/main/docs/) (if functionality has heavily changed) - [ ] I have read the section [Add New Translation Tags](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-PDF/blob/main/devGuide/HowToAddNewLanguage.md#add-new-translation-tags) (for new translation tags only) ### Translations (if applicable) - [ ] I ran [`scripts/counter_translation.py`](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-PDF/blob/main/docs/counter_translation.md) ### UI Changes (if applicable) - [X] Screenshots or videos demonstrating the UI changes are attached (e.g., as comments or direct attachments in the PR) ### Testing (if applicable) - [X] I have tested my changes locally. Fix: Access to Swagger UI when login enabled (#5194)
Fixes for /swagger-ui/index.html & /v1/api-docs endpoints not being accessible when login was enabled. - `UserAuthenticationFilter.isPublicAuthEndpoint()` had gaps in its check, missing `/v1/api-docs` - Refactored `UserAuthenticationFilter` to use `RequestUriUtils.isPublicAuthEndpoint()` instead of its own incorrect method Closes #5125 & #5028 --- ### Testing (if applicable) - [x] I have tested my changes locally. feat(viewer): Add interactive link layer with (basic) internal/external navigation support (#5077)
# Description of Changes Added a new `LinkLayer` component to the PDF viewer that renders clickable overlays for PDF link annotations, enabling both internal page navigation and external URL links. - Created `LinkLayer.tsx` component that extracts link annotations using the EmbedPDF annotation API with fallback to direct PDF document access - Implemented scale-aware positioning to maintain accurate link hotspots at different zoom levels - Added support for internal navigation (GoTo actions) using smooth scrolling and external links (URI actions) opening in new tabs - Integrated accessibility features with proper ARIA labels and keyboard navigation - Modified `LocalEmbedPDF.tsx` to always register the annotation plugin (even when editing is disabled) to enable reading existing link annotations - Updated `ReactRoutingController.java` and test formatting for code style consistency **Key features:** - Multi-source annotation detection (annotation API → document API → page API fallback) - Navigation lock to prevent race conditions - React performance optimizations (useMemo, useCallback) - TypeScript type safety for PDF actions and destinations This does not address support for Attachment links. Sadly, that does not seem to be possible with EmbedPDF <img width="773" height="957" alt="image" src="https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/8a04d15a-79b5-46b6-af8b-3d27246581a7" /> <img width="773" height="957" alt="image" src="https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/eeb39ca7-a114-4bd5-a4eb-9e8a27331297" /> <img width="773" height="957" alt="image" src="https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/1ee6bba3-d233-4a11-bf1a-1b56696265e1" /> <!-- Please provide a summary of the changes, including: - What was changed - Why the change was made - Any challenges encountered Closes #(issue_number) --> --- ## Checklist ### General - [X] I have read the [Contribution Guidelines](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-PDF/blob/main/CONTRIBUTING.md) - [ ] I have read the [Stirling-PDF Developer Guide](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-PDF/blob/main/devGuide/DeveloperGuide.md) (if applicable) - [ ] I have read the [How to add new languages to Stirling-PDF](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-PDF/blob/main/devGuide/HowToAddNewLanguage.md) (if applicable) - [X] I have performed a self-review of my own code - [ ] My changes generate no new warnings ### Documentation - [ ] I have updated relevant docs on [Stirling-PDF's doc repo](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-Tools.github.io/blob/main/docs/) (if functionality has heavily changed) - [ ] I have read the section [Add New Translation Tags](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-PDF/blob/main/devGuide/HowToAddNewLanguage.md#add-new-translation-tags) (for new translation tags only) ### Translations (if applicable) - [ ] I ran [`scripts/counter_translation.py`](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-PDF/blob/main/docs/counter_translation.md) ### UI Changes (if applicable) - [ ] Screenshots or videos demonstrating the UI changes are attached (e.g., as comments or direct attachments in the PR) ### Testing (if applicable) - [X] I have tested my changes locally. [V2] feat(pipeline): add pre-publish sanitization workflow (#4910)
# Description of Changes TLDR - Created `Pre-publish-sanitization.json` default pipeline configuration - Added sanitization operations removing metadata, JavaScript, embedded files, and annotations - Registered new pipeline in `GeneralUtils` - Included "Pre-publish Sanitization" in the suggested automations list This pull request introduces a new "Pre-publish Sanitization" workflow for PDF files, designed to help users remove sensitive metadata and content before publishing documents online. The changes include backend and frontend updates to support this workflow, as well as a minor bug fix in form data handling. **New Pre-publish Sanitization Workflow:** * Added a new default configuration file `Pre-publish-sanitization.json` that defines a pipeline for sanitizing PDFs by removing JavaScript, embedded files, metadata, annotations, flattening forms, and compressing the document. * Registered the new `Pre-publish-sanitization.json` config in the set of default web UI configurations in `GeneralUtils.java`, making it available in the application. **Frontend Integration:** * Added a new suggested automation called "Pre-publish Sanitization" in the `useSuggestedAutomations` hook, including its name, description, operations, and a new privacy icon for better UI representation. <!-- Please provide a summary of the changes, including: - What was changed - Why the change was made - Any challenges encountered Closes #(issue_number) --> --- ## Checklist ### General - [X] I have read the [Contribution Guidelines](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-PDF/blob/main/CONTRIBUTING.md) - [X] I have read the [Stirling-PDF Developer Guide](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-PDF/blob/main/devGuide/DeveloperGuide.md) (if applicable) - [ ] I have read the [How to add new languages to Stirling-PDF](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-PDF/blob/main/devGuide/HowToAddNewLanguage.md) (if applicable) - [X] I have performed a self-review of my own code - [ ] My changes generate no new warnings ### Documentation - [ ] I have updated relevant docs on [Stirling-PDF's doc repo](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-Tools.github.io/blob/main/docs/) (if functionality has heavily changed) - [ ] I have read the section [Add New Translation Tags](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-PDF/blob/main/devGuide/HowToAddNewLanguage.md#add-new-translation-tags) (for new translation tags only) ### Translations (if applicable) - [ ] I ran [`scripts/counter_translation.py`](https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-PDF/blob/main/docs/counter_translation.md) ### UI Changes (if applicable) - [ ] Screenshots or videos demonstrating the UI changes are attached (e.g., as comments or direct attachments in the PR) ### Testing (if applicable) - [X] I have tested my changes locally. [V2] feat(delete-form,modify-form,fill-form,extract-forms): add delete, modify, fill, and extract form functionality (#4830)
# Description of Changes TLDR - Adds `/api/v1/form/fields`, `/fill`, `/modify-fields`, and `/delete-fields` endpoints for end-to-end AcroForm workflows. - Centralizes form field detection, filling, modification, and deletion logic in `FormUtils` with strict type handling. - Introduces `FormPayloadParser` for resilient JSON parsing across legacy flat payloads and new structured payloads. - Reuses and extends `FormCopyUtils` plus `FormFieldTypeSupport` to create, clone, and normalize widget properties when transforming forms. ### Implementation Details - `FormFillController` updates the new multipart APIs, and streams updated documents or metadata responses. - `FormUtils` now owns extraction, template building, value application (including flattening strategies), and field CRUD helpers used by the controller endpoints. - `FormPayloadParser` normalizes request bodies: accepts flat key/value maps, combined `fields` arrays, or nested templates, returning deterministic LinkedHashMap ordering for repeatable fills. - `FormFieldTypeSupport` encapsulates per-type creation, value copying, default appearance, and option handling; utilized by both modification flows and `FormCopyUtils` transformations. - `FormCopyUtils` exposes shared routines for making widgets across documents ### API Surface (Multipart Form Data) - `POST /api/v1/form/fields` -> returns `FormUtils.FormFieldExtraction` with ordered `FormFieldInfo` records plus a fill template. - `POST /api/v1/form/fill` -> applies parsed values via `FormUtils.applyFieldValues`; optional `flatten` renders appearances while respecting strict validation. - `POST /api/v1/form/modify-fields` -> updates existing fields in-place using `FormUtils.modifyFormFields` with definitions parsed from `updates` payloads. - `POST /api/v1/form/delete-fields` -> removes named fields after `FormPayloadParser.parseNameList` deduplication and validation. <img width="1305" height="284" alt="image" src="https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/ef6f3d76-4dc4-42c1-a779-0649610cbf9a" /> ### Individual endpoints: <img width="1318" height="493" alt="image" src="https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/65abfef9-50a2-42e6-8830-f07a7854d3c2" /> <img width="1310" height="582" alt="image" src="https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/dd903773-5513-42d9-ba5d-3d8f204d6a0d" /> <img width="1318" height="493" alt="image" src="https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/c22f65a7-721a-45bb-bb99-4708c423e89e" /> <img width="1318" height="493" alt="image" src="https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/a76852f5-d5d1-442a-8e5e-d0f29404542a" /> ### Data Validation & Type Safety - Field type inference (`detectFieldType`) and choice option resolution ensure only supported values are written; checkbox mapping uses export states and boolean heuristics. - Choice inputs pass through `filterChoiceSelections` / `filterSingleChoiceSelection` to reject invalid entries and provide actionable logs. - Text fills leverage `setTextValue` to merge inline formatting resources and regenerate appearances when necessary. - `applyFieldValues` supports strict mode (default) to raise when unknown fields are supplied, preventing silent data loss. ### Automation Workflow Support The `/fill` and `/fields` endpoints are designed to work together for automated form processing. The workflow is straightforward: extract the form structure, modify the values, and submit for filling. How It Works: 1. The `/fields` endpoint extracts all form field metadata from your PDF 2. You modify the returned JSON to set the desired values for each field 3. The `/fill` endpoint accepts this same JSON structure to populate the form Example Workflow: ```bash # Step 1: Extract form structure and save to fields.json curl -o fields.json \ -F file=@Form.pdf \ http://localhost:8080/api/v1/form/fields # Step 2: Edit fields.json to update the "value" property for each field # (Use your preferred text editor or script to modify the values) # Step 3: Fill the form using the modified JSON curl -o filled-form.pdf \ -F file=@Form.pdf \ -F data=@fields.json \ http://localhost:8080/api/v1/form/fill ``` #### How to Fill the `template` JSON The `template` (your data) is filled by creating key-value pairs that match the "rules" defined in the `fields` array (the schema). 1. Find the Field `name`: Look in the `fields` array for the `name` of the field you want to fill. * *Example:* `{"name": "Agent of Dependent", "type": "text", ...}` 2. Use `name` as the Key: This `name` becomes the key (in quotes) in your `template` object. * *Example:* `{"Agent of Dependent": ...}` 3. Find the `type`: Look at the `type` for that same field. This tells you what *kind* of value to provide. * `"type": "text"` requires a string (e.g., `"John Smith"`). * `"type": "checkbox"` requires a boolean (e.g., `true` or `false`). * `"type": "combobox"` requires a string that *exactly matches* one of its `"options"` (e.g., `"Choice 1"`). 4. Add the Value: This matching value becomes the value for your key. #### Correct Examples * For a Textbox: * Schema: `{"name": "Agent of Dependent", "type": "text", ...}` * Template: `{"Agent of Dependent": "Mary Jane"}` * For a Checkbox: * Schema: `{"name": "Option 2", "type": "checkbox", ...}` * Template: `{"Option 2": true}` * For a Dropdown (Combobox): * Schema: `{"name": "Dropdown2", "type": "combobox", "options": ["Choice 1", "Choice 2", ...] ...}` * Template: `{"Dropdown2": "Choice 1"}` ### Incorrect Examples (These Will Error) * Wrong Type: `{"Option 2": "Checked"}` * Error: "Option 2" is a `checkbox` and expects `true` or `false`, not a string. * Wrong Option: `{"Dropdown2": "Choice 99"}` * Error: `"Choice 99"` is not listed in the `options` for "Dropdown2". ### For people manually doing this For users filling forms manually, there's a simplified format that focuses only on field names and values: ```json { "FullName": "", "ID": "", "Gender": "Off", "Married": false, "City": "[]" } ``` This format is easier to work with when you're manually editing the JSON. You can skip the full metadata structure (type, label, required, etc.) and just provide the field names with their values. Important caveat: Even though the type information isn't visible in this simplified format, type validation is still enforced by PDF viewers. This simplified format just makes manual editing more convenient while maintaining data integrity. Login Refresh Fix (#4779)
Main Issues Fixed: 1. Tools Disabled on Initial Login (Required Page Refresh) Problem: After successful login, all PDF tools appeared grayed out/disabled until the user refreshed the page. Root Cause: Race condition where tools checked endpoint availability before JWT was stored in localStorage. Fix: - Implemented optimistic defaults in useEndpointConfig - assumes endpoints are enabled when no JWT exists - Added JWT availability event system (jwt-available event) to notify components when authentication is ready - Tools now remain enabled during auth initialization instead of defaulting to disabled 2. Session Lost on Page Refresh (Immediate Logout) Problem: Users were immediately logged out when refreshing the page, losing their authenticated session. Root Causes: - Spring Security form login was redirecting API calls to /login with 302 responses instead of returning JSON - /api/v1/auth/me endpoint was incorrectly in the permitAll list - JWT filter wasn't allowing /api/v1/config endpoints without authentication Fixes: - Backend: Disabled form login in v2/JWT mode by adding && !v2Enabled condition to form login configuration - Backend: Removed /api/v1/auth/me from permitAll list - it now requires authentication - Backend: Added /api/v1/config to public endpoints in JWT filter - Backend: Configured proper exception handling for API endpoints to return JSON (401) instead of HTML redirects (302) 3. Multiple Duplicate API Calls Problem: After login, /app-config was called 5+ times, /endpoints-enabled and /me called multiple times, causing unnecessary network traffic. Root Cause: Multiple React components each had their own instance of useAppConfig and useEndpointConfig hooks, each fetching data independently. Fix: - Frontend: Created singleton AppConfigContext provider to ensure only one global config fetch - Frontend: Added global caching to useEndpointConfig with module-level cache variables - Frontend: Implemented fetch deduplication with fetchCount tracking and globalFetchedSets - Result: Reduced API calls from 5+ to 1-2 per endpoint (2 in dev due to React StrictMode) Additional Improvements: CORS Configuration - Added flexible CORS configuration matching SaaS pattern - Explicitly allows localhost development ports (3000, 5173, 5174, etc.) - No hardcoded URLs in application.properties Security Handlers Integration - Added IP-based account locking without dependency on form login - Preserved audit logging with @Audited annotations Key Code Changes: Backend Files: - SecurityConfiguration.java - Disabled form login for v2, added CORS config - JwtAuthenticationFilter.java - Added /api/v1/config to public endpoints - JwtAuthenticationEntryPoint.java - Returns JSON for API requests Frontend Files: - AppConfigContext.tsx - New singleton context for app configuration - useEndpointConfig.ts - Added global caching and deduplication - UseSession.tsx - Removed redundant config checking - Various hooks - Updated to use context providers instead of direct fetching --------- Signed-off-by: dependabot[bot] <support@github.com> Signed-off-by: stirlingbot[bot] <stirlingbot[bot]@users.noreply.github.com> Co-authored-by: dependabot[bot] <49699333+dependabot[bot]@users.noreply.github.com> Co-authored-by: Ludy <Ludy87@users.noreply.github.com> Co-authored-by: EthanHealy01 <80844253+EthanHealy01@users.noreply.github.com> Co-authored-by: Ethan <ethan@MacBook-Pro.local> Co-authored-by: Anthony Stirling <77850077+Frooodle@users.noreply.github.com> Co-authored-by: stirlingbot[bot] <195170888+stirlingbot[bot]@users.noreply.github.com> Co-authored-by: ConnorYoh <40631091+ConnorYoh@users.noreply.github.com> Co-authored-by: Connor Yoh <connor@stirlingpdf.com> |

V2: Login Feature (#4701)
This PR migrates the login features from V1 into V2.
---
- Login via username/password
- SSO login (Google & GitHub)
-- Fixed issue where users authenticating via SSO (OAuth2/SAML2) were
identified by configurable username attributes (email,
preferred_username, etc.), causing:
- Duplicate accounts when username attributes changed
- Authentication failures when claim/NameID configuration changed
- Data redundancy from same user having multiple accounts
- Added `sso_provider_id` column to store provider's unique identifier
(OIDC sub claim / SAML2 NameID)
- Added `sso_provider` column to store provider name (e.g., "google",
"github", "saml2")
- User.java:65-69
Backend Changes:
- Updated UserRepository with findBySsoProviderAndSsoProviderId() method
(UserRepository.java:25)
- Modified UserService.processSSOPostLogin() to implement lookup
priority:
a. Find by (`ssoProvider`, `ssoProviderId`) first
b. Fallback to username for backward compatibility
c. Automatically migrate existing users by adding provider IDs
(UserService.java:64-107)
- Updated saveUserCore() to accept and store SSO provider details
(UserService.java:506-566)
OAuth2 Integration:
- CustomOAuth2UserService: Extracts OIDC sub claim and registration ID
(CustomOAuth2UserService.java:49-59)
- CustomOAuth2AuthenticationSuccessHandler: Passes provider info to
processSSOPostLogin()
(CustomOAuth2AuthenticationSuccessHandler.java:95-108)
SAML2 Integration:
- CustomSaml2AuthenticationSuccessHandler: Extracts NameID from SAML2
assertion (CustomSaml2AuthenticationSuccessHandler.java:120-133)
---
- Configurable Rate Limiting
Changes:
- Added RateLimit configuration class to ApplicationProperties.Security
(ApplicationProperties.java:314-317)
- Made reset schedule configurable: security.rate-limit.reset-schedule
(default: "0 0 0 * * MON")
- Made max requests configurable: security.rate-limit.max-requests
(default: 1000)
- Updated RateLimitResetScheduler to use @Scheduled(cron =
"${security.rate-limit.reset-schedule:0 0 0 * * MON}")
(RateLimitResetScheduler.java:16)
- Updated SecurityConfiguration.rateLimitingFilter() to use configured
value (SecurityConfiguration.java:377)
---
- Enable access without security features
Backend:
- Added /api/v1/config to permitAll endpoints
(SecurityConfiguration.java:261)
- Config endpoint already returns enableLogin status
(ConfigController.java:60)
Frontend:
- AuthProvider now checks enableLogin before attempting JWT validation
(UseSession.tsx:98-112)
- If enableLogin=false, skips authentication entirely and sets
session=null
- Landing component bypasses auth check when enableLogin=false
(Landing.tsx:42-46)
- Added createAnonymousUser() and createAnonymousSession() utilities
(springAuthClient.ts:440-464)
Closes #3046

feat(pdf-to-cbr): integrate RAR for CBR output generation (#4626)
# Description of Changes This pull request introduces full support for generating true CBR (Comic Book RAR) archives from PDF files using the local RAR CLI ### CBR Conversion Implementation: - Refactored `PdfToCbrUtils.java` to generate image files for each PDF page, invoke the RAR CLI to create a `.cbr` archive, and clean up temporary files after conversion.. ### Dependency & Endpoint Management: - Added RAR as a required external dependency in `ExternalAppDepConfig.java` and checks for its availability, disabling related endpoints if missing. - Registered new endpoints under the "RAR" group in `EndpointConfiguration.java` and updated group validation logic. ### Controller and API Updates: - Updated the API controller to clarify that the output is a true CBR archive created with RAR, not ZIP-based. - Modified the web controller to check for endpoint availability and return a 404 error if the CBR conversion feature is disabled. ### Sample logs/verification: Conversion command > 23:12:41.552 [qtp1634254747-43] INFO s.s.common.util.ProcessExecutor - Running command: rar a -m5 -ep1 output.cbr page_001.png > 23:12:41.571 [Thread-25] INFO s.s.common.util.ProcessExecutor - > 23:12:41.571 [Thread-25] INFO s.s.common.util.ProcessExecutor - RAR 7.12 Copyright (c) 1993-2025 Alexander Roshal 23 Jun 2025 > 23:12:41.571 [Thread-25] INFO s.s.common.util.ProcessExecutor - Trial version Type 'rar -?' for help > 23:12:41.571 [Thread-25] INFO s.s.common.util.ProcessExecutor - > 23:12:41.571 [Thread-25] INFO s.s.common.util.ProcessExecutor - Evaluation copy. Feature/v2/googleDrive (#4592)
Google drive oss. Shouldn't have any effect on pr deployment. Mainly the removal of the old integration via backend. I have added the picker service and lazy loading of the required google dependency scripts when the necessary environment variables have been implemented. --------- Co-authored-by: Connor Yoh <connor@stirlingpdf.com> Co-authored-by: James Brunton <jbrunton96@gmail.com> |

feat(cbr-to-pdf,pdf-to-cbr): add PDF to/from CBR conversion with ebook optimization option (#4581)
# Description of Changes This pull request adds support for converting CBR (Comic Book RAR) files to PDF, optimizes CBZ/CBR-to-PDF conversion for e-readers using Ghostscript, and improves file type detection and image file handling. It introduces the `CbrUtils` and `PdfToCbrUtils` utility classes, refactors CBZ conversion logic, and integrates these features into the API controller. The most important changes are grouped below. ### CBR Support and Conversion: - Added the `com.github.junrar:junrar` dependency to support RAR/CBR archive extraction in `build.gradle`. (https://github.com/junrar/junrar and https://github.com/junrar/junrar?tab=License-1-ov-file#readme for repo and license) - Introduced the new utility class `CbrUtils` for converting CBR files to PDF, including image extraction, sorting, and error handling. - Added the `PdfToCbrUtils` utility class to convert PDF files into CBR archives by rendering each page as an image and packaging them. ### CBZ/CBR Conversion Optimization: - Refactored `CbzUtils.convertCbzToPdf` to support optional Ghostscript optimization for e-reader compatibility and added a new method for this. - Added `GeneralUtils.optimizePdfWithGhostscript`, which uses Ghostscript to optimize PDFs for e-readers, and integrated error handling. ### API Controller Integration: - Updated `ConvertImgPDFController` to support CBR conversion, CBZ/CBR optimization toggling, and Ghostscript availability checks. ### Endpoints <img width="1298" height="522" alt="image" src="https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/144d3e03-a637-451a-9c35-f784b2a66dc1" /> <img width="1279" height="472" alt="image" src="https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/879f221d-b775-4224-8edb-a23dbea6a0ca" /> ### UI <img width="384" height="105" alt="image" src="https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/5f861943-0706-4fad-8775-c40a9c1f3170" /> ### File Type and Image Detection Improvements: - Improved file extension detection for comic book files and image files in `CbzUtils` and added a shared regex pattern utility for image files. ### Additional notes: - Please keep in mind new the dependency, this is not dependency-free implementation (as opposed to CBZ converter) - RAR 5 currently not supported. (because JUNRAR does not support it) - Added the new ebook optimization func to GeneralUtils since we'll soon (hopefully) at least 3 book/ebook formats (EPUB, CBZ, CBR) all of which can use it. - Once again this has been thoroughly tested but can't share actual "real life" file due to copyright. refactor: Replace manual resource handling with try-with-resources (#4593)
# Description of Changes
Explanation on try-with-resource:
> Many resources in Java need be closed after they have been used. If
they are not, the garbage collector cannot reclaim the resources'
memory, and they are still considered to be in use by the operating
system. Such resources are considered to be leaked, which can lead to
performance issues.
>
> Java 7 introduced the try-with-resources statement, which guarantees
that the resource in question will be closed.
>
> try (InputStream input = Files.newInputStream(path)) {
> // "input" will be closed after the execution of this block
> }
>
> This syntax is safer than the traditional method using try, catch, and
finally and hence should be preferred.

feat(get-info-on-pdf): use PDFBox preflight to validate PDF compliancy level, and parse in compliancy type (#4595)
# Description of Changes - Refactored methods for parsing and extracting PDF/A conformance levels from XMP metadata. - Implemented PDF/A validation using Preflight from Apache PDFBox. - Enhanced PDF information generation to include PDF/A conformance level and validation results. - Updated compliance checks and JSON output to reflect new PDF/A capabilities. ### Test files: [lorem-ipsum_PDFA1b.pdf](https://github.com/user-attachments/files/22687689/lorem-ipsum_PDFA1b.pdf) [lorem-ipsum_PDFA_2b.pdf](https://github.com/user-attachments/files/22687692/lorem-ipsum_PDFA_2b.pdf) [lorem-ipsum_PD⁄A3a.pdf](https://github.com/user-attachments/files/22687693/lorem-ipsum_PD.A3a.pdf) ### New results: <img width="699" height="257" alt="image" src="https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/b8cb5510-2908-4e08-97f6-d5799e0e1be7" /> <img width="699" height="257" alt="image" src="https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/d7af3731-ad19-4524-b1c1-32f47776e6af" /> <img width="699" height="257" alt="image" src="https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/6e48e65b-2ebc-402a-a222-bfdbf783e45d" /> I also validated with online tools. Should be good now! I was also thinking moving this to GeneralUtils; it may be useful for PDF/A converter in the future, or for other features. Not sure yet, for now I think this is good for now.
